Edibility: Too rare and inconspicuous for culinary purposes.

Habitat: On formicine ants (Hymenoptera) loose in the leaf litter or slightly buried in soil.

Description: Stroma: Usually single (rarely multiple), cream yellow to yellow orange, 30-80 mm long, 200-300 µm across, expanding to 2-4 mm at terminal perithecial head. Perithecia: Immersed obliquely, hyaline-walled with a curved neck, up to 800 µm long x 150-200 µm wide. Ostioles: Concolorous, slightly projecting. Asci: Elongate-cylindric, up to 500 µm x 5-6 µm diam., 8-spored. Ascospores: Filiform, breaking easily into 64 part-spores (sometimes slightly fewer). Part-spores: Cylindric, ends blunt, 6-7.5 µm long x 1.5-2 µm wide.

Comments: This species was originally described from Italy and it has a wide distribution around the World. In Bhutan it has been found below 2000 masl.
