Local name: Bjishi Ruru Edibility: Edible Habitat: Terrestrial and caespitose. Description:Cap: 1-6 cm wide, convex when young and grows to be depressed as it matures with decurved margin in youngspecimens becoming uplifted at maturity. Light brown to grey colour and viscid when wet. Hymenophore: Adnexed, white and close gills. Lamellulae present. Stem: 3-11 cm tall up to 3 cm wide, equal with fused base, white, smooth and semi-stuffed stem. Flesh: White, no change on exposure to air. Spore Print: White. Comments: It can be confused with others of the same group, however all are edible. The only danger of confusion could be with the toxic Entoloma lividum which occurs individual and does not aggregates.It is very prone to insect attack and is not possible to take too far away to market unless it is dried or stored in cold storage. |
