Local name: No local name known Edibility: Unknown Habitat: On woods among mosses and lichens and gregariously. Description: Fruiting bodies: The fungus appears as a bright orange stalked fan shaped. Upper surface: Bright orange to yellowish with a relatively bumpy surface, otherwise smooth with no hairs or scales, 1-3cm in diameter. Under surface: With prominent pores looking like honeycomb, wide and well spaced, more like holes, con-coloured to the upper surface. Stem: Very short, 3-5 mm tall, laterally joined to cap. Spore Print: White. Comments: It is avery unique mushroom which is easy to identify due to its large pores and bright orange colour. It does not have a close resemblance to other mushrooms and is thus easier to identify. Handling this fungus will result in orange staining of the hand. |
