Habitat: Lignicolous and gregarious to caespitose. Description: Cap: 2-6 cm diameter, convex at first, funnel-shaped with age, surface fibrillose bright yellow to dull yellow. Hymenophore: Decurrent gills, sometimes running down the stem, sub-distant and white. Stem: 5-8 cm tall and up to 2 cm wide, subclavate, surface fibrillose, white and it is often diverges from a single base. Flesh: White. Spore Print:White. Comments: P. citrinopileatus is an excellent edible species growing in southern part of Bhutan. It grows in natural environments on dead trunks of trees and other plants in decomposition. This species degrades lignin and cellulose, which are the main components of wood. It has a pleasant nutty flavour and is a food very rich in proteins. |
