Description:
Dioecious tree with erect stems 1m tall, 15 cm diam, bearing old leaf scars; female inflorescence borne at top of stem, depressed globose, c 40 cm diam, seeds orange, 3 on each side of scale stipe densely packed and completely hidden by upturned pectinate flattened distal portion. leaves+ - erect borne on top stem 140- 170 cm, petiole 25-37 cm long, longest leaflets 12-18cm long, Local name Bongo, Seeds used to make flour in times of famiune
